Amazing Women 2025: Lou Featherstone - Self Love Coach

We’ve been building up to it for quite a while now but International Women’s Day is nearly here! This Saturday 8th March is the big day and, as you may have seen, we are teaming up with the inspirational Lou Featherstone - AKA Lu in Luland - to bring our underwear - and much more - to Birmingham. 

Lu is hosting a pop-up event on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th of March where you will have the opportunity to model our organic cotton underwear in a colourful photoshoot celebrating women of all shapes, sizes, ages, skin colour, and everything else which makes you YOU.

For this week’s blog, we’re taking a look at the life and times of the inimitable Lu and the work she does to celebrate women and help them celebrate themselves. 

As a mother in her 50’s who has spent time living in and travelling around the US, Lu has plenty of life experience, not least in the way that society treats older women. After going through a period of shaky self-confidence and feeling confused about her direction in life, Lu embarked on a journey of self-discovery and finding ways to live out loud the way she had always wanted to.

Through spending time with other women in person and via Instagram, she began to find her voice and her identity beyond simply being a mother: a bold and confident woman, willing to take risks and have her own adventures. 

Since then, Lou has set out to share this message of self love. She founded a sex-positive movement designed to help women share their experiences, and encourage them to embrace their true selves and live the life they want to.

This is a message she spreads through events, self-love coaching, her colourful Instagram community, and her Self Love Revolution podcast. On her podcast she covers everything from dating to menopause to mental health and aims to have honest, open, and sometimes taboo conversations with a range of incredible women.

We first started working with Lu after she modelled for a campaign we shot in summer 2024 and we fell in love with her exceptional style and contagious confidence in front of the camera. 

As a self-confessed former fast fashion addict, Lu has been on a journey of sustainability which has gone hand in hand with her self-love journey. After realising that her shopping habits were damaging the environment and the workers who made them, she made the decision to not buy anything new for a year.

This led to an evolution in her personal style as she was forced to be more creative in her outfit choices and make better use of the clothes she already had. Now, Lu is well-known on Instagram for her distinct style incorporating vintage gems into colourful, boldly patterned outfits with unique accessorising.

At Y.O.U we are constantly inspired by the incredible women who wear our underwear and Lu is no exception! Her dedication to self-love and authenticity is something we admire so much and we are so excited for what she has in store over the weekend.
