Amazing Women 2025: Meet our model Kate
One of our core values at Y.O.U Underwear has always been to ensure that our underwear is as inclusive as possible and that every type of body is celebrated.
With all of our photoshoots, we aim to create an atmosphere where everybody feels comfortable and models are able to enjoy themselves and the process. We always work with volunteer models so it can take some time for people to get into it. However, all of our shoots have been so much fun and everyone finishes the day feeling super positive!
As part of our Amazing Women series for International Women's Day, we caught up with model Kate, who has worked on two Y.O.U shoots with us. We gathered her thoughts on the process of modelling for Y.O.U and overcoming the initial nerves to find her stride on set.

With two shoots under your belt now, we'd love to know what it means to you to work with Y.O.U?
I worked with Y.O.U because I wanted to support ethical clothing and consumption. I was thrilled to find a local company that follows this ethos.
What was the most exciting part about being involved in the photoshoots?
Going to the shoot in Brighton! Shooting at the location and in a studio set up felt really professional and fun.
What made you want to volunteer for the shoot?
I volunteered to be a model as I am working on my own body image. I always feel disappointed in how I look in photos, and I thought professional photographers and good lighting, as well as more of myself exposed and celebrated by a decent photo would feel good (it did!).
What advice would you give to someone who is considering modelling for Y.O.U?
Go for it! Celebrate yourself; it's fun and empowering. Plus it's a neat two fingers to industries who say women can 'only' be a certain physical way.
What is your favourite thing about International Women's Day and which women are you looking to this year?
It's tough and troubling right now. Large parts of the world are backsliding on women's rights, and it feels like women are under huge pressure from the media as well - this body fad, that body fad, this social media trend, that one. However when I see stories of young men stepping up decently, and of women and girls in repressive regimes who still protest and march, I am amazed by their strength and determination. They are the people I celebrate. I have been listening to the music of Saba Zamenii, an Iranian musician who was arrested for being a female singer but who now continues to use her voice through music after moving to Canada.
It's great to hear Kate's feedback on how she found the shoot and her motivations for volunteering. We are so glad she was able to feel comfortable on set and enjoy the experience with other models.
Every time that we do a shoot, we are always so grateful to our wonderful models and so impressed and inspired by their energy on set. It's fantastic to see the products we work so hard to bring together, modelled by real women and to see their confidence shine through as a result.
